Finding the "E"

in Williamsburg Schools…..

You won’t find it in our name, but you will find it in lots of things we are doing!

This "E" is for Educational, Exciting, Enrich, Explore, Enable and for Electronic.

Over the past several years we have added computers to every classroom in the school. We have created computer labs in both the Elementary and Middle/High Schools and supplemented the printed word with computers in the Library. The computer is as important for today’s students as a pencil was for us, or our parents in school.

All the school’s computers are networked together and all are linked to the Internet. Our access to the Internet is through the Hamilton/Clermont Co-Operative Association, or HCCA. HCCA provides us with a firewall protection service that helps to screen out objectionable web sites that our students may inadvertently—or purposefully —try to connect to.

But being electronic is more than just having computers for classroom instruction, individualized learning and doing research on the Internet. Being electronic also allows for new levels of communication for the benefit of our students, their parents and the community.

Email

HCCA provides us with Internet based Email. All teachers and staff have Email addresses. The listings can be found on our web site. Please use Email if you need to contact your child’s teacher, it is very convenient.

GradeQuick

We use an electronic grade book program called GradeQuick. Our   teachers entered all their grades through this system. If you wanted to check on your child’s progress, you can come to the school and an Administrator can call up the child’s grades for you to look at.

EdLine

You don‘t have to come to the school to look at your children’s grades. You at home, if you have internet access, or you, at the public library, will be able to access all of your children’s grades on line. Students will be listed by their Student ID and you and your student will be able to look at his/her grades. We hope to have grades updated on a weekly basis. Passwords protect the privacy of your child’s information from being viewed by anyone else.  Passwords are supplied by Edline.  As a parent your password will easily allow you to see all your children's grades

ZEBU

ZEBU is a collaborative software program that allows teachers to create web-based projects for their students. Students can work on their portion of the project from any computer that is connected to the internet– at school or home, the library. When the teacher publishes the project to the Internet, it can be viewed by anyone with internet access—even Grandma in Florida.  We are putting our teacher's web-site related pages on Zebu this year so that they are able to make changes in content more easily and keep the pages up to date.

Skills Tutor

Williamsburg schools has purchased a license to utilize the Skills Tutor program.  This program is specifically aimed at the skills needed to pass the various proficiency tests.  Teachers will assign tasks for students to accomplish at study tables or at home.  Your student will get a password and can practice anywhere there is Internet connection.

Web Site

We encourage you to visit the school’s web site at http://williamsburg.k12.oh.us. We have information from all our teachers and staff, forms that your child may need for athletics, or changes of address, valuable links and more. Our Student Handbook is posted. There is a community section with local information, history and links. Please Email the webmaster to include those items of local interest that are not shown.
