Using the Hewlett Packard M417 Digital Camera with Windows XP

Digital Camera

1. User’s Manual is on Faculty Share.
2. Cameras use 2 AA batteries.
3. Take a picture with larger button on top.
4. Movie clips with small button on top. Press movie camera button again to stop recording.
5. View pictures by pressing blue arrow button and use arrow keys to go through pictures.
6. Transferring pictures works best on XP machines (computer lab, office, special ed. Rooms).
7. Need USB cord (in box) to transfer pictures.
8. Erase pictures from memory card after transferring pictures so it is ready for next person.
9. Remember to check out camera on sign out sheet.
10. If batteries are dead, let Tammy know.

Transferring Pictures to Computer (Using Windows XP):

1. Log on to computer using your own username and password.
2. Plug USB cable into camera (small end of cable).
3. Plug USB cable into computer (big end of cable).
4. Turn camera on.
5. Camera screen will say “Establishing Connection”.
6. A screen will pop up on the computer (it may take a few seconds).
7. If the Scanner Camera Wizard does not come up automatically, choose it from the list.
8. In the Scanner and Camera Wizard, click Next.
9. Choose the pictures that you want to take from the camera. Select All chooses all pictures on the memory card. (This is the easiest because it will erase the card at the same time.)
10. Click Next.
11. Choose a group name for the pictures (growth chart, date, field trip, etc.)
12. Click on Browse.
13. Find your home directory on the server.
a. Network places,
b. Faculty on Admin1,
c. your name
14. Create a new folder and name is “Pictures”.
15. Click OK.
16. To Delete the pictures from the camera after they transfer, check “Delete pictures from my device after copying them”
17. Click Next.
18. Click “Nothing, I’m finished working with these pictures”
19. Click Next
20. Click Finish
21. A screen will come up showing your pictures. This is where you can print.
22. On the left side, click on “Print these pictures”.
23. Click Next.
24. All of the pictures will come up. Check the pictures you want to print.
25. Click Next.
26. Choose the printer.
27. Click Next.
28. Choose the size that you want for the pictures.
29. Click Next.
