Williamsburg Middle High School

2007/2008 Student Council

The Williamsburg MS/HS Student Council was formed as voice of the students organization.  They completely are in charge of the Homecoming from the organization of the event, parade activities, and setup and fundraising for the event.  The Student Council also organizes Athletic Fall and Winter Senior Night Ceremonies.

The Williamsburg Student Council partners with Hoxworth to have blood drives 5 times per year with students and staff participating.  Students who are 17 years of age and older may participate.  This event has been a great success with a average of 30 participants during a blood drive.  Students and staff pre-register for the event by contacting cover_gi@burgschools.org community members are also welcomed to participate in the event.

The next blood drive is January 4th, 2008 in the staff parking lot at HS/MS.

The Williamsburg Student Council awards three scholarships per year:

Hoxworth Blood Donor - usually someone has donated blood to the Hoxworth Blood Center a large number of times and shows good community participation.

Outstanding Senior Student Council Member -  Based on level of participation in Student Council and Academic Standings.

Outstanding Attendance (If given) - Excellent attendance and GPA.

The Williamsburg Paper Recycling:

Middle School student council members participate in a Paper Recycling event during their advisory period.  This fundraiser raises money for the Homecoming event.  This event also makes helps in aiding the cleanup of the environment by providing a way for the school to cut down on materials that can be recycled.   The community is encouraged to bring their paper recyclables to the specially marked recycling bins that are located on the HS/MS parking lot  (Please paper products only. No Cardboard!).
